Initial Ideas

As mentioned in my analysis of the brief, I decided to explore some of my own ideas as well as a couple of those given in the brief before making a decision on which idea to develop.

My first idea was for the 'cloud based app':

The idea is to make the usb stick in the shape of an app icon. My initial thoughts on packaging are to do something with helium balloons to emphasis the 'cloud' aspect, probably with the company details printed on both the balloon and on a ribbon fastened to the balloon.

The second idea I looked at was the streaming music site:

 Based on the idea of a 'Mix-tape' with the usb stick pulling out from the cassette body. I would then package this in a cassette case with the website details printed on the inlay and the cassette body in a handwritten style.

My final idea, as previously mentioned, was to make the usb stick like a biscuit:

Although I really like this idea my issue with it is that biscuits are not normally packaged individually. I therefore decided to look at individual type snack bars / chocolate bars....

I sketched a design for an idea based on a 'Club' biscuit that was more suitable to being individually packaged. I would base my idea on the packaging of the actual biscuit with a foil and paper wrapper.

I decided that I would prefer to develop this idea further so my next step will be to look at different snack bars / chocolate bars etc for more inspiration.
